Last weekend we headed to Maine for a little R+R. On our way to Kennebunkport for lunch, we drove past the Corey Daniels Gallery in Wells. I was compelled to turn back for a closer look. The gallery, which principally focuses on found art and objects, is housed in a traditional colonial and barn bridged together by a contemporary addition. The naturalistic landscape was a collaboration between Daniels and Anthony Elliot of Snug Harbor Farm. While the building and landscape are what caught my attention, tastemaker Daniels does not disappoint- the objects and collections displayed in his gallery are as inspired as the venue.
As we left his gallery, Daniels enthusiastically encouraged us to visit Elliot’s nursery in Kennebunk. We ventured up Route 9 to Snug Harbor Farm. The nursery is a plant connoisseur’s dream. Like Daniels, Elliot is a purveyor of good taste. His nursery is beautifully displayed - carrying an assortment of interesting plants, topiaries and imported terra-cotta.
If you find yourself in southern Maine, stop by for a visit.
